Choosing Your Exhibitor Name
Every time you enter a rabbit show, you will fill in your 'exhibitor name' on your show entry form. Now this seems pretty straight-forward, but it is important to use the same name and spelling of it, each time you show, so your sweepstakes points will add up to your benefit.
For example-at one show, you enter under your full name: Katherine Showman and earn 50 points at that show. So now, all the rabbit clubs you hold memberships in, have 50 sweepstakes points recorded under Katherine Showman.
Perhaps you are in a hurry at the next show and without much thought, write your nickname, Katy Showman, on your entry form. You earn 70 points at that show.
To the show secretaries processing your entry forms it might appear that Katy and Katherine are two separate people, even relatives living at the same address...so now you have 50 points recorded under Katherine Showman, and 70 points recorded under Katy Showman - all because you didn't use the same name each time you showed!
As you can figure out, you will not get very far in the points sweepstakes if your points are recorded under different names each time you show!
Open Adult Exhibitors
You can choose your exhibitor name from the following types-
- YOUR NAME- such as Sam Showman. This is the most commonly used choice!
- YOUR RABBITRY NAME- such as Showman's Rabbitry
- GROUP NAME such as Sam & Sue Showman, or Sam Showman & Tom Rabbitlover or any combination of rabbitry partners.....
Youth Exhibitors
Rules are different for youth exhibitors:
- Youth MUST use their name as their exhibitor name
- Youth cannot use only a rabbitry name as their exhibitor name - but- a rabbitry name can be added to their entry form.
- If more than one youth owns a particular rabbit-ALL the youth owners' names must be listed on the entry form when that rabbit is entered in a show.
The
last rule is a bit confusing - here is an example of some youth entries when
some of the rabbits are jointly owned: Brothers Tim and Jared Smith are
entering a rabbit show. Tim raises Rex rabbits and Jared raises Holland
Lops, but together they co-own and raise French Lops. Tim fills out an entry form
with all his Rex rabbits on it - and under his youth name "Tim Smith".
Jared fills out an entry form with all his Holland Lops on it, and under his
youth name "Jared Smith". Then the brothers enter their jointly-owned
French Lops on third entry form with both their names, Tim Smith and Jared
Smith, listed as the
exhibitor. They have a total of three entry forms for the show.
Choose your exhibitor name wisely and then stick with it so your points will add up correctly and to your benefit!
