Rabbitry Records and Recordkeeping
Accurate records are a must for your rabbitry! You'll need to find a
way to keep track of your rabbits, breeding records, health records,
pedigrees, show reports, expenses and sale records.
I've used the Rabbit Register software from Evans software for several years now - it is easy to use, easy to update and the customer support for this product is the best I've seen! I use the deluxe edition and can track breeding and kindling, pedigrees, expenses, sale records, health records for each rabbit, show reports for each rabbit, genetics, and so much more.
Here is the the website and contact information for Evans Software in case you want to take a look yourself:

If you prefer to use paper recordkeeping, a Pedigree Book can be purchased from the ARBA website - for under $5 you will get a bound book of 48 pedigrees and breeding certificates.
You can buy a complete rabbit recordkeeping kit with a binder, pedigree and breeding summary sheets for under $20 from Klubertanz Equipment in Edgerton.
A word about pedigrees....
Pedigrees are the written record of the rabbit's ancestry, usually going back 3 or 4 generations. These records are important to maintain accurately and legibly. Guess work should not be involved in pedigree making or recording; if you don't know the rabbit's color, ask someone else, or ask a registrar or judge at a show. It will help future breeders of your rabbits if you list the complete variety/color - as an example -instead of writing just 'tortoise', write what variety of tort it is (black, blue, etc)
Copying pedigrees to put into your records - please double check your typing! It is so easy to make a mistake that will be transferred along when you sell any offspring of that rabbit! If you have questions or there is information missing from a pedigree you are entering into your own system - contact the breeder for the correct info - don't guess or fill in your own answer!
Don't change the name of a rabbit you did not produce and don't add your rabbitry name or your name to its record. If you get an unnamed rabbit from someone, then use its tattoo up in the name area.
When you are making up your own pedigrees for rabbits you produce - if using handwritten pedigrees, please print! You would not believe how hard it can be to read someone else's cursive writing.
