2006-2007 Rabbit Show Schedule and Highlights

Below are the ARBA shows in and around Wisconsin that we plan to attend during the 2006-2007 show season

We'll be adding more shows to the list below, as we decide which ones we'll be attending.

Hope to see you at these shows!

Hollands: I don't have Jody's remark cards with me as I type this so I can only write the placings I recall, but most of his Hollands placed in the top half of their classes.

I think Domino was the highest placing Holland at 5th in his broken sr. buck class.  Every Holland we have decided to blow their coats just last week and all looked a mess - so Jody was happy with how high they placed with the terrible condition they were in!

French Lops:  Kelly's French Lops had also gone through the big moult like the Hollands, but had done so a few weeks earlier so they were further along in condition and did much better;

French Lop judging was exciting - over 70 rabbits!  First, Kelly's solid sr. buck Thunder won his class and another let despite being in the tail end of his moult.   Kelly's juniors did very well in all their classes; her solids won their large classes and went on to win BOV and BOSV, then her brokens did almost as well with Erin going on to win BOB!

We attended the banquet where Kelly took third in the state for French Lop points (and by only attending 10 shows last season!!!) and she also took first place in WI with cavies.

Jody only attended about 5 shows last year and showed only a few rabbits so he knew he was not in the points running for a trophy; I think he fell just outside of the top ten in WI.

All-in-all, we had a great time at Convention and really made a nice showing with our rabbits!

Pictures coming soon!

Kelly did well with her French Lops again - I think it was Talon, her junior solid buck that won BOS, plus she had some other class wins.

At the Midwest Lop Club show, she has a few class wins with her juniors -she only brought one senior buck to show, and Thunder was still in a spectacular molt.

Jody brought a few Hollands, and I believe both his senior solid buck and his senior broken bucks each placed 3rd in their large classes.

We were parked in the middle of the showroom and mostly I remember how hot it became in the building - and I kept asking to have the show committee open the big overhead doors to let the nice breeze come in-but they never did!  I'll certainly remember this next year and be sure to park our rabbits nearer the doors!

Just Kelly and I went up to this show...Jody didn't want to go.

Kelly won BOS again with her junior solid buck, Talon!  This buck is really nice!

Of course, being a junior still, he has been no match for the pretty senior doe that new exhibitor Steph Anderson bought from Mr. Z - but Kelly is thrilled with the recent improvements to her own line - we can't wait till these recent litters develop into seniors!

This kids didn't show on Saturday so I came to the show as several people were bringing Polish does for me to look at - I did end up finding some nice black and chocolate does!

At Fox Valley, Kelly sold Twister, a nice solid junior buck,  to Miranda Miller - and it was nice to see that she showed him today and he won his class and first leg!

On Sunday, just Kelly came to show her French Lops.  Jody stayed home again...

Kelly won BOB and then went on to win Best 6-Class with LaReau's Erin, a broken 6/8 doe.  This doe just turned 6/8 last week and is just about 12 lbs.  She can now be registered and granded!

Her sister, Emily, placed right behind her in the class and I think the judge had a hard time picking which rabbit he liked better.

Fudge won his first leg by winning his class then winning BOSV too!

Her solid 6/8 doe, Amber, won her class then BOV.  This doe can now be registered and granded too!

Kelly had a lot of rabbits up on the table at the end.  She sold Mattie to a gal who is starting in French Lops and has a couple of nice bucks from Gary Smith - Mattie should work well with these bucks - we wish her the best of luck!

 2/11/07  Highlights and Notes:
Lakeland Rabbit Breeders Association

Elkhorn, WI

Show Secretary:

Wow, I always forget how dang cold this show is until I am sitting in the 'cold' room shivering to death!  It was very nice in the fact that only Kelly showed today; Jody was home ill, and at the last minute I decided not to bring my few Polish, and we were lucky because French Lops were done by 11:30!

Kind of a strange day showing though - Bacon won BOS which I didn't really expect!  Kelly was happy though, she almost sold him earlier, but liked him well enough to keep him.  All her rabbits from last summer's litters have just now turned senior so they weren't as competitive as some of the mature seniors are - we just need a bit more time for this group.

Jesse Miller picked up Emily at this show, and Emily placed ahead of her sister, Erin!  Well Lop Nationals is coming but we'll have very few rabbits to show and our litters will be just a little too young to show - poor planning on our part I guess.
