What a time!  The highlight of this year's State Convention was definitely the cavy show!  There were a lot of cavy entries - more that I thought we would have.  Kelly won BIS youth with her Abyssinian boar - against some awesome cavies!  Kelly also did well with her French Lops, Thunder won BOV and his third leg - no other wins with her other French Lops but she had consistently high placings against a line up of top-notch lops!  Jody's Hollands didn't do as well as we wanted - but he had high placings with Domino, and 2 others.  We were at a disadvantage with the Hollands from the get-go, with most just turning senior this month.  Huge, huge classes as usual.

Besides the showing, we sure had some challenges - we got up at 3 am Saturday to drive up to the show - after we left and were already on the interstate, we noticed that we forgot the cavies!  Had to turn around and go back to get them.....  The banquet, well, anyone that attended, already knows - and I am certain we won't be there next year!  We also decided to camp out of the van, to save money, but I tell you - sleeping on the floor in the back of my van without an air mattress was like sleeping on a bed of rock - I tossed and turned all night and felt like a wreck in the morning which made for a long day Sunday.  The kids had fun camping though - we parked next to the Keiser clan, and the kids made s'mores and ate lots of cheese products (Brenda Keiser is a dairy cow nutritionalist).  I knew I was tired when I bought $5 worth of raffle tickets then proceeded to put both sides of each ticket into the tins - dah!

Kelly did well with her French Lops - Thunder won BOV again, Raven and Diamond won their classes, and her others placed well also.  It is hard to beat some of the French Lops that Patrick Reilly owns!

Jody did nicely with his Hollands - Domino placed 3d in a very large broken senior buck class and he just turned senior!  A few other Hollands of Jody's placed nicely though, but no class wins again.....

It was fun to see Curt Olson - bring Opie and Teddy to show for the first time at an ARBA show - Opie placed 2/4 in her open class!  Way to go Curt!

A few snapshots of this show are here

Kelly did great with her French Lops - Thunder won BOS, her junior doe, Diamond won her large class and a leg and she had high class placing with the rest.  Jody's Hollands didn't do well; mid-class if that - but we didn't expect his young seniors to compete well yet.

Again, Kelly won BOS with Thunder, Raven won her class, Diamond won her jr. class and the rest placed very high!

Jody did better with his Hollands - YRA's Last Call took BOV, and his young seniors placed higher than yesterday's show.

We did not make it to the Saturday show - too much to do!  On Sunday, Kelly only brought 4 French Lops to show - ones she hasn't shown much - she wanted to give her top show string a rest before convention.  We were surprised when the one we thought would do well was first off the table, and the one we didn't think the judge would like, won his first junior leg!

Jody only brought a couple Hollands as well, and placed nicely with Doubles and Domino.

I got my first Champagne D' Argents from Ron and Sheila Jonesy at this show - they are so beautiful!

No pictures, I brought my camera but forgot to take pictures....

10/23/05 to 10/27/05  Highlights and Notes:

A very crowded and cold show, but the first of the year here in Wisconsin so always a big turnout!

Kelly won BOS with her French Lop

Jody place mid-class with his few Hollands he brought.

See pictures here.

 3/11-3/12/06  Highlights and Notes:
Badger Rabbit Breeders

Jefferson, WI

I worked at this show so I didn't get to watch much of my kids' rabbit showing, but Kelly sure had a good day!

She won Reserve In Show with 'Star" a beautiful broken chinchilla French Lop doe she bought from Gary Garrett at the 2005 ARBA Convention!

We bred Star about a week before this show, so her show career will be on hold now - and are we excited to see what she produces!

Jody's Hollands came in mid class again - the one that we took that is not a very good Holland placed higher than our 'good' Hollands...so go figure.......

Jody will most likely be taking a break from showing this spring - he has an intense competitive soccer tournament schedule which will prevent him from getting to shows.  That's allright though - all his does are bred and he only has 2 or 3 bucks that he shows now anyways.

You can see some pictures here.

 4/1-4/2/06  Highlights and Notes:
Tri-County

Jefferson, WI

We only attended the Saturday show this time - just too busy to attend both days.

Jody was excited when Doubles finally won his large SSB class!  I was a little surprised Jody even decided to come since he had soccer practice on Saturday.

Kelly's rabbit, Moon (JB One Choice) won BOV - this is huge French Lop doe she got from Jeanne Thomas as Convention - to add these bloodlines to our French lops, so this was nice to see.

 5/14/06  Highlights and Notes:
Southwest WI RC

Dodgeville, WI

Show Secretary:

WI Rapids, WI 54494

Kelly won Best of Breed with her large opal senior French Lop doe, JB One Choice.  She purchased this doe from Jean Thomas at 2005 ARBA Convention!

Jody did so-so with his Hollands but sure got his fill of pie!  read more and see pictures.....

 5/21/06  Highlights and Notes:
Southern Lakes RC

Union Grove, WI

Show Secretary:

Lisa Woelbing

2689 Waukesha Rd

Franksville, WI 53126

Looks like we will be at a huge soccer tournament in Lake Geneva this entire weekend so this will be the first time we have to miss this show - really bummed out- one of our favorites to attend!   : (

Show season summary:  We sure didn't attend as many shows as we would have liked to due to my sons' heavy sports schedules.

Kelly finished very nicely in the points with her French Lops; she finished 3rd in Wisconsin and around 7th nationally - the exhibitors that placed higher attended a range of 15-38 shows each - so we are very happy that Kelly did so well by attending only 10 shows!

Jody concentrated more on his sports than on his rabbits this year - he plays in a highly competitive soccer league and attended many statewide tournaments.  He didn't breed much and didn't show much, in fact only attended a few of the 10 shows Kelly went to, so he wasn't expecting a nice finish in the points sweeps this year.  I think he placed around 13th in WI and I think he was around 55th in the nation, but I believe that number will drop when they add the late spring shows as Jody didn't attend any.
