Breeders Association!
The American Rabbit Breeders
Association is a world-wide organization that promotes all aspects of
raising rabbits and cavies- everything from pet ownership, breeding,
showing, commercial use and breed improvement/ development. It is
the parent club under which all other sanctioned clubs and shows operate.
The world is divided into 9 separate ARBA Districts - members belong to the
district they live in. There is a growing number of internet
discussion groups and websites devoted to enhancing communication between
ARBA members - Visit our other website,
The Rabbit & Cavy Directory to
see the breakdown of the ARBA Districts along with links to helpful
websites and chat/news groups!
The cost to join is minimal
- and membership includes an excellent book Raising
Better Rabbits and Cavies, packed with information on each rabbit and
cavy breed, plus advice on care, housing, breeding and medical and
rabbitry/caviary management. With your membership you will also
receive the bi-monthly magazine Domestic Rabbit, which offers
information on breeds and changes to the Standard, history, bios on prominent breeders and judges,
market reports, and club updates and changes. Members also

interesting data.
Membership in the ARBA
allows you to 'register' your pedigreed rabbits and cavies, increasing
their value and opening the door to obtaining 'Grand Champion
Certificates' when earned. Members may also register their rabbit or
caviary.
The American Rabbit Breeders
Association also offers other publications, pamphlets and educational
materials; fair packets for display and info booths at local and
county fairs - which include promotional and informative pamphlets on many
different aspects of rabbit and cavy care, Books and booklets for a
wide range of age and experience levels, plus merchandise and more!
A must-have publication
from ARBA is
the Standard of Perfection. This book lists all the
recognized rabbit and cavy breeds and their ideal show room conformation,
weights, colors, faults and disqualifications. It is an invaluable
tool to use when choosing new rabbit or cavies or if you plan to show your
rabbits - judges also use this guide to determine placement of rabbit and
cavies during competition.
The American Rabbit Breeders
Association has a nice
website, where you can find information on how to join ARBA, breed
specialty clubs and state/regional clubs to join, rabbit and cavy
shows in your area, books and merchandise to purchase, and information on
each rabbit and cavy breed.
