The American Cavy is a popular breed, both as a pet, and as a show cavy. American cavies come in many different colors and are currently shown under 18 different color classifications!

The good show-quality American will have a medium body type with nice wide shoulders and a solid body. The American cavy will have a roman nose (convex) and a high, full crown.

Color and markings make up the most points when judging the American cavy, followed by type.
