Our Holland Lops......
The Holland Lops
are a joint project between myself and my son, Jody. When Kelly got her
first French Lop, Jody chose a little black Holland Lop buck for his first
rabbit. He named him 'Wire' (don't ask.....) and it wasn't long before we
were both captivated by this rabbit with his unique sense of humor and funny
antics- we knew we had to have more! Soon we found ourselves searching for
and buying our Holland Lop foundation rabbits and our breeding plan was hatched.
Well...our breeding plan was hatched
all right, but we've suffered some broken eggs here and there - Holland Lops are
truly a challenge to produce - perseverance is a must, and there are plenty of
times when your inspirations are just dreams, but there are no words to describe
the excitement when you get a promising youngster!
Jody owns all the show Hollands and
several of the breeding Holland Lops, and I own several breeding Holland Lops myself. I
guess you could say we are a little 'buck heavy' but I like the variety we
have and each of our bucks has exceptional qualities to contribute.
Fall of 2006- Jody started High
School - and he has become increasingly busy with sports; in particular soccer,
which he has progressed to playing year round,
Jody no longer shows any rabbits but
does not want to give up all his Hollands. We will continue to co-own some
Hollands, and Jody will still own his foundation Hollands that he used to show -
this is fine with me, especially since he still does his own chores!
As of June 2007, we find ourselves
with an abundance of roomy cages since Kelly sold all her French Lops - after
the summer heat, I plan to begin a more intense Holland Lop breeding schedule
than we've had in the past - and I intend to show this coming fall and spring
under open!
Website Update: 7/1/07:
I will soon update all our Holland Lop pages- although our foundation stock
pages are pretty current, our pages showing our home-bred stock are seriously
out of date! Stop back periodically to see our new pictures and
information!
Thanks for visiting our Holland
Lop section!
